Lorneville Lodge is within minutes of seven golf courses in our area. They all are very well laid out with magnificent green fairways, all well sheltered and a joy to play on. Green fees are $5.00 to $10.00. (You will not be disappointed.)

Stewart Island. Whether you are New Zealander’s or from Overseas you will enjoy the magical -atmosphere of Stewart Island and its very special tranquil beauty. You may wish to view Kiwi and wildlife, walk, boat, fish, dive, kayak, hunt or just relax. Lorneville Holiday Park is the nearest Holiday Park to Stewart Island.
Educational – Museums
Tuatara – Just 12 minutes drive from Lornville Holiday Park the Southland museum has the largest public display of live Tautara in the world. These prehistoric reptiles once roamed on all continents. Now they are found only on predator-free islands off the coast of New Zealand and in captivity. (You must see Henry).
 Art Galleries
Anderson Park surrounds a Georgian-style mansion, now an Art gallery. It covers 24 hectares and features flower gardens brimming with colour, Rose gardens, immaculate lawn, tall trees and native bush. A Maori house, bush walk duck pond and childrens playground make this place unique. (must see).

Heritage Trails

Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail
Situated in the South Catlins area of Southland, this trail provides a rewarding detour off the Southern Scenic Route. Covering approximately 70kms of road, part tar-seal part gravel, the Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail runs between Niagara (189kms from Dunedin) and Fortrose (50kms from Invercargill). It can be travelled in either direction, thereby complementing your existing travel plans.
Gore Heritage Trail
 The Heritage Trail is designed for visitors wishing to undertake a walking tour of historic sites within the town of Gore.
Takitimu Heritage Trail
Welcome to the Takitimu Heritage Trail. The route is dominated by spectacular Takitimu Mountains and foothills. Twelve sites marked with Heritage Trail signs are situated between Wreys Bush in the east and Birchwood in the west. The 40 km route may be travelled in either direction.The earliest European settlers in the area sweated both above and below the ground. Above ground farmers tamed the land from wilderness to its present agricultural bounty. Beneath the surface coalminers contributed much to the nation’s wealth extracting millions of tonnes of high quality coal.Both agriculture and mining produced a strong community spirit that was, and remains, characteristic of the district.Enjoy the journey and drive safely!
Winton Heritage Trail
The Winton Heritage Trail is 10km long, and can be driven in 15 minutes. Be sure to allow extra time to fully appreciate the 14 sites, and at least 20 minutes to enjoy a stroll through the Ivy Russell Reserve.If you have time you may wish to consider walking the trail – the area is flat and the route very pleasant! Give yourself an hour or two.
Northern Southland Heritage Trail
Welcome…Haere mai….Traveller to Northern Southland – a wonderful expanse of plains, crossed by numerous rivers and surrounded by hills and majestic mountains. 15 sites marked with Heritage Trail signs feature on our Historic journey, covering the area between Kingston and the Josephville Hill.Spanning a distance of 110km, the trail sites are able to be travelled in any order. This will enable you to explore this area with ease.
Invercargill Heritage Trail
Invercargill offers visitors an interesting tour of heritage sites and diverse open spaces. This half day tour is best undertaken by vehicle, with stops for walking in gardens, bush and the Invercargill city centre. The tour can start at any point.
The Riverton-Aparima South Coast Heritage Trail will open up a world of history, discovery and natural beauty, as it takes you on a journey around the southern coastal areas of Southland.
